These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Digital Mundo LLC ("we", "us", "mapped.lol"). By accessing or using the site, or by claiming any space on the map, you accept these Terms and our handling of data described below. If you do not agree, do not use the site. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, and legally able to enter a contract. If you use the site for an organization, you represent that you're authorized to bind it.
A "claim" is a limited, revocable, non-exclusive license to display your chosen content (text, emoji, an uploaded image, or pixel art) on a region of our stylized pixel map, for as long as that claim remains active. A claim is NOT: real property or real estate, any interest in real-world land, a security, a financial instrument, a token, an NFT, or any ownership stake in mapped.lol or its data. It grants no rights beyond displaying your content on our map, and confers no exclusivity, guarantee of visibility, or guarantee of duration.
Any claim may be taken over by anyone else at any time by paying the applicable price (typically the current price plus one dollar, or the sum of overlapping claims). We provide NO GUARANTEE that your content will remain visible for any length of time. Being outbid, overwritten, or displaced is a core feature of the service, not a defect, and does not entitle you to any refund, credit, or compensation.
You keep whatever rights you already have in content you place. By placing content you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, resize, cache, and publicly display that content on and in connection with the site (including in screenshots, previews, and promotional material of the map). You represent and warrant that you own or have the rights to everything you upload, and that it does not infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
You agree not to place, upload, or transmit content that:
You also agree not to abuse, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to breach the security of the site, or to automate claims to manipulate the map.
We may remove any content and revoke any claim, at our sole discretion, with or without notice, and WITHOUT REFUND — including content that violates these Terms or that we simply judge inappropriate for a public, all-ages map. We may also suspend or ban users. Every claim has a report link; reports help but do not obligate us to act.
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on the map infringes your copyright, send a notice to hello@mail.mapped.lol including: your contact info; identification of the copyrighted work; the location (coordinates or a link) of the allegedly infringing content; a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and you are authorized to act; and your physical or electronic signature. We will remove or disable qualifying content and may notify the claimant. Repeat infringers will be banned. (17 U.S.C. § 512.)
We use Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Cloudflare (hosting), and Google Analytics (usage). We collect minimal data: the email associated with your payment (used only for receipts and claim recovery), basic analytics, and the content and coordinates of your claims (which are public by nature). We do not sell your personal data. Edit access to your claims is stored in your browser; recovery links are sent only to your payment email. Your use is also governed by those providers' terms and privacy policies.
The site is provided "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, or that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Map data is stylized and approximate and must not be relied on for navigation or any real-world decision. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or content, arising from or related to the site or these Terms. Our total aggregate liability for any claim WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 3 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) US $20.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Digital Mundo LLC and its owners, from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your content, your use of the site, or your violation of these Terms or of anyone's rights.
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, for any reason, without notice or refund. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, and 14) survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State in which Digital Mundo LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute will be resolved individually (no class actions) in the state or federal courts located there, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
We may update these Terms at any time by posting the revised version here with a new date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
